Here’s what Disney’s underway on now at its Epcot theme park

Disney’s work to reinvent Epcot for the future has been in the works for years, and crews now are busier than ever making that transformation happen.  A new construction permit filed by Walt Disney Imagineering with Orange County on Sept. 5 shows work that likely is related to the development of the World Discovery area attractions at the theme park. World Discovery is a new theme to the current Future World East at Epcot that consists of attractions like Test Track and Mission: Space, the future “Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind” roller coaster, a new space-themed restaurant dubbed “Space 220,”and the new Play! pavilion. Here’s how the permit describes the work: “Backfill existing canal, sheet piles, dewatering.” The contractor performing the work is Roebuck Construction Services Inc. in DeBary, which lists having done previous work at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Universal Orlando Resort.  The address of the work is 1350 Avenue of the Stars, which pinpoints an area behind the future Guardians of the Galaxy ride and the future Play! Pavilion.
