Anthony Levandowski arrested and charged with stealing self-driving trade secrets: WSJ

Anthony Levandowski, the engineer at the center of a legal fight between Google parent Alphabet Inc. and Uber Technologies Inc. , was arrested on Tuesday and charged by federal authorities with 33 counts of trade-secret theft, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing a person familiar with the matter. Levandowski was accused by Alphabet of stealing technology when he was leader of its self-driving car unit Waymo and taking it with him when he moved to Uber. The parties reached a settlement in a civil suit in 2018, under which Uber promised not to use Waymo's technology and to give that company equity. Justice Department officials are to hold a press conference later to discuss the charges. Uber shares were last down 0.6%, while Alphabet shares were down 0.3%.
