Complete with a “new arena” smell, the Golden State Warriors are soft opening their new Chase Center to various groups with fresh food, cutting-edge technology, deep-pocketed brand names and new ways of looking at things. The Warriors won’t formally open the arena in San Francisco’s Mission Bay until Sept. 6 with a joint concert with Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony, but the franchise is showing off its $1 billion-plus, privately financed venue to season ticket holders, employees, the media and others. Some 70 percent of Warriors season-ticket holders have made the jump from Oracle Arena in Oakland to Chase Center, where the Warriors for the first time will play, practice and run corporate operations.
